I am spearheading the international movement to change the faulty-translation and profane name of Minnesotaâ??s â??Rum Riverâ?� back to its sacred Dakota Indian name Wakan. And I am also working to get a project like yours established in Minnesota.

I am an indigenous woman from the Bontok tribe in the Cordillera, Philippines. Our culture has been heavily influenced by the Americans when they colonized us at the turn of the 20th century. Because we want to revisit and nurture our indigenous spirituality, I am interested in the activities of the Turtle Island Project.
